We are a Costa Rican family whose principles are based on the conservation of the flora & fauna and a respect for nature. Over the years we decided to open the Refuge to the nature lovers in order to share this magnificent wonderland called El Viejo Wetlands with all of them and ensure the sustainability of our Wildlife Refuge.

Explore El Viejo National Wildlife Refuge in one side and Palo Verde National Park in the other side while sailing in the magnificent Tempisque River via boat! Come and enjoy the outdoors and experience the local ecology and see birds, monkeys, and more on this serene boat ride.

We will start with a delicious cup of coffee, fruits and natural beverages in a mystic old house of almost 150 years old. Explore El Viejo Wildlife National Refuge and its magnificent Tempisque River which border Palo Viejo National Park. Enjoy an incredible number of birds, Howler Monkies and white face Capuchin Monkies, as well as crocodiles and some other species in their natural habitat.

The cultural tour will envelop you in the sweetness of the Sugar Cane. How about sharing some of our most precious traditions such as the
“ox-operated sugar mill” (trapiche), hand made tortillas, aromatic fresh coffee and some guanacastecan appetizers made of corn. We invite to meet some folks who will be glad to tell you the real story of Costa Rican Haciendas and the working families. An enjoyable occasion for everyone!
